Answers to Common Questions Regarding Participation and Research Procedures

This research seeks to better understand the impact that Near-Death Experiences and related experiences have on people's beliefs, wellbeing, identity, spirituality, values, and perceptions of consciousness. By gathering information directly from individuals who have had these experiences, the research aims to contribute to a deeper understanding of consciousness and human existence.

The research is being conducted as part of doctoral studies in Metaphysical Parapsychology.

Dissertation Title:
"Life after Death: The Impact of Accessing Humanity's Continuing Consciousness Existence Beyond Physical Death"

The research is being conducted by Andrew Reay, a counsellor, psychotherapist, clinical hypnotherapist, and doctoral researcher with extensive professional and academic experience in counselling, psychotherapy, personal transformation, and consciousness-related studies. Further information can be found on the About Andrew and Professional Credentials pages.

Near-Death Experiences are among the most profound and transformative experiences reported by human beings. Many individuals describe lasting changes in their beliefs, relationships, values, spirituality, sense of purpose, and attitudes toward death. Understanding these experiences may provide valuable insights into consciousness, human psychology, and the ways in which extraordinary experiences influence people's lives.

Participation is generally open to adults (18+) who have experienced a Near-Death Experience or another related experience that meets the research criteria. Full eligibility information is available on the Participate in Research page.

Not necessarily. Many experiences that are described as Near-Death Experiences occur during life-threatening situations, severe illness, accidents, trauma, surgery, or other circumstances where death appeared imminent. Specific participation criteria are outlined within the research information provided on the Participate in Research page.

You are still encouraged to participate. Many people report that the impact of a Near-Death Experience remains significant for years or even decades after the event. Experiences that occurred in the distant past may still provide valuable information for the research.

You are welcome to contact the researcher to discuss your experience. In many cases, the research questionnaire itself may help determine whether your experience aligns with commonly recognised Near-Death Experience characteristics.

The research questionnaire is expected to take approximately 20–30 minutes to complete. The exact time may vary depending on individual circumstances and the depth of qualitative details you wish to supply.
