Exploring Consciousness Beyond Physical Life
Throughout history, individuals from diverse cultures, backgrounds, and belief systems have reported experiences that challenge conventional understandings of consciousness, identity, and human existence. Among the most compelling of these are Near-Death Experiences (NDEs).
Many people who have had a Near-Death Experience describe profound changes in their beliefs, values, relationships, spirituality, and understanding of life and death. Some report a reduced fear of death, a greater appreciation for life, and a lasting sense that consciousness may exist independently of the physical body.
While interpretations vary, these experiences raise important questions worthy of careful exploration and research.
This website supports doctoral research examining the impact that experiences suggesting the continuation of consciousness beyond physical death have on the lives of those who report them.
The research seeks to better understand:
By gathering information directly from individuals who have had these experiences, the research aims to contribute to a deeper understanding of both consciousness and the human experience.
Research into consciousness and Near-Death Experiences depends upon the willingness of individuals to share their experiences. Every participant contributes valuable information.
Whether your experience occurred recently or many years ago, your responses can help researchers identify common themes, understand long-term impacts, and explore questions that continue to intrigue researchers, clinicians, philosophers, and the broader community.
Your experience matters because it adds to a growing body of knowledge seeking to better understand one of humanity's greatest mysteries.
Participation is open to adults who believe they have had a Near-Death Experience or another experience relevant to the research criteria. You do not need to be a member of any particular religious, spiritual, or philosophical group. People from all backgrounds and belief systems are welcome.
Full eligibility information is available on the Participate in Research page.
Participation is voluntary. All responses are treated confidentially and stored securely. Information collected through this research will be used for academic and research purposes only.
Participants may choose whether they wish to provide identifying information, and personal information will not be disclosed without consent. Further information regarding privacy, confidentiality, and participation procedures can be found on the Participate in Research page.
There are two ways to contribute to this research. You can complete the formal parapsychological questionnaire, provide an optional qualitative narrative story of your experience, or do both.
