A doctoral research project investigating the impact that Near-Death Experiences and related experiences have on beliefs, wellbeing, identity, spirituality, and perceptions of consciousness beyond physical death.
Thank you for visiting Consciousness After Death.
This website has been created to support doctoral research exploring one of humanity's most enduring questions: Can consciousness continue beyond physical death?
For centuries, people from diverse cultures and backgrounds have reported experiences that challenge conventional understandings of life, death, and consciousness. Among the most profound of these are Near-Death Experiences (NDEs).
Many individuals who have had a Near-Death Experience describe lasting changes in their beliefs, values, relationships, spirituality, sense of purpose, and understanding of life itself. While interpretations of these experiences vary, their impact is often significant and life-changing.
This research seeks to better understand those experiences and the influence they have on the lives of those who report them.
Near-Death Experiences continue to attract interest from researchers, healthcare professionals, philosophers, theologians, and the broader community.
While considerable research has been conducted into the characteristics of Near-Death Experiences, less attention has been given to understanding the long-term impact these experiences have on individuals and how they shape beliefs, identity, wellbeing, and perceptions of consciousness.
By listening to and learning from those who have had these experiences, this research aims to contribute to a deeper understanding of human consciousness and the ways extraordinary experiences can influence people's lives.
If you have experienced a Near-Death Experience, your participation in this research may help advance understanding in an area that continues to raise important questions about consciousness and human existence.
Whether your experience occurred recently or many years ago, your perspective is valuable.
Participation involves completing a research questionnaire and survey designed to explore the impact and meaning of your experience.
This doctoral research examines the impact that experiences suggesting the continuation of consciousness beyond physical death have on the people who report them.
The study explores questions relating to:
The project combines quantitative and qualitative approaches to better understand both the experiences themselves and their lasting effects.
Consciousness After Death was established by Andrew Reay, counsellor, psychotherapist, clinical hypnotherapist, and doctoral researcher.
Andrew's interest in consciousness and the deeper questions of human existence spans several decades and is supported by:
The project is grounded in professional practice, informed by academic inquiry, and guided by a genuine curiosity about the nature of consciousness and human existence.
Research of this nature is only possible because individuals are willing to share their experiences.
If you have had a Near-Death Experience and would like to contribute to a deeper understanding of consciousness and its possible relationship to physical death, your participation is warmly welcomed.
